GARAGE & GRID GUIDE

How much does it cost to charge an EV at home in Australia?

A practical way to estimate home EV charging cost using your tariff, vehicle efficiency and charging loss.

Start with your EV's consumption in kWh per 100 km, rather than its advertised range. Multiply annual distance by that consumption, then add charging loss to estimate the energy drawn from the grid.

Your bill's usage rate matters more than any national headline. Enter the rate you actually pay at the time you normally charge; time-of-use and solar plans can produce very different results.

For a useful first estimate, compare the result with the site's AU reference profile, then replace its values with your own tariff and vehicle label.
