GARAGE & GRID GUIDE

How to estimate EV total cost of ownership without false precision

Build a transparent five-year EV comparison using inputs you can inspect and change.

Start with purchase price less expected resale value. Add energy or fuel, servicing, insurance, registration and finance across the period. Keep each number visible and editable.

Do not add a tax incentive, finance assumption or resale estimate unless you can explain its source and whether it applies to you. A simple nominal-dollar comparison is useful, but it is not a personal financial forecast.

Use at least two scenarios: one based on current known costs and one conservative scenario with higher energy, fuel, insurance or lower resale. The gap is more useful than a single precise-looking answer.
